Art & painting
My favourite thing in the world. Sunsets, animals, and mixing a colour nobody has ever seen before.
I'm eight years old and I'm in Year 5. Most days you'll find me doing
art.
sketching.
shading.
making things.
gymnastics.
This is my portfolio — everything I've made, all in one place.
My name is Myra Bilal. I'm eight years old and I'm in Year 5 at GEMS Founders School in Dubai.
I love to do art. I do a lot of stuff in art — painting, sketching, clay, and right now I'm learning shading, which is my newest thing and much harder than it looks.
I also do gymnastics. My gymnastics has gone on a break at the moment, so art has taken over for now — but I want to get to the top in gymnastics, and I'm already flexible enough for the splits.
Read my full storyArt is the big one. These are all the things that fill up my week.

What I'm working on right now. Shading is new for me and it's the hardest bit so far.

Tiny food, tiny animals, tiny everything. My shelf is getting seriously crowded.
In the holidays I go to different countries — India, the USA and the UK so far.
Year 5 at GEMS Founders School in Dubai. Art day is easily the best day of the week.
Every holiday I go somewhere new, and I always come back with something to draw.
The colours everywhere are unbelievable. Half my favourite paint combinations came from this trip.
Everything is enormous — the buildings, the roads, and especially the breakfasts.
Rainy, green, and full of museums. I filled a lot of sketchbook pages on this one.
The short version, if you're in a hurry.
I love to do art. And in gymnastics I want to get right to the top. — Myra, age 8
