A little bit about me

My name is Myra Bilal. I'm eight years old and I'm in Year 5 at GEMS Founders School in Dubai.

I love to do art. I do a lot of stuff in art — painting, sketching, clay, and right now I'm learning shading, which is my newest thing and much harder than it looks.

I also do gymnastics. My gymnastics has gone on a break at the moment, so art has taken over for now — but I want to get to the top in gymnastics, and I'm already flexible enough for the splits.

What I'm into

Art is the big one. These are all the things that fill up my week.

Art & painting

My favourite thing in the world. Sunsets, animals, and mixing a colour nobody has ever seen before.

Sketching & shading

What I'm working on right now. Shading is new for me and it's the hardest bit so far.

Gymnastics

I want to get to the top. I'm flexible enough for the splits already — we're just on a break right now.

Making & clay

Tiny food, tiny animals, tiny everything. My shelf is getting seriously crowded.

Travelling

In the holidays I go to different countries — India, the USA and the UK so far.

School

Year 5 at GEMS Founders School in Dubai. Art day is easily the best day of the week.

Places I've been

Every holiday I go somewhere new, and I always come back with something to draw.

India

The colours everywhere are unbelievable. Half my favourite paint combinations came from this trip.

The USA

Everything is enormous — the buildings, the roads, and especially the breakfasts.

The UK

Rainy, green, and full of museums. I filled a lot of sketchbook pages on this one.
